Medical seminar on cryoablation treatment in Bardejov At the end of August, a one-day seminar for external physicians was held at EuroPainClinics in Bardejov under the leadership of Róbert Rapčan, MD, PhD, MBA, FIPP, Medical Director of EuroPainClinics. Its aim was to introduce them to the state-of-the-art cryosurgery equipment for minimally invasive cryoablation procedures.
The cryoablation method based on temporarily interrupting the sensory functions in certain structures of the nervous system, using the process of analgesia - freezing at very low temperatures down to -78 °C. It is used worldwide as an innovative method when treating pain in the intervertebral (facet) joint pain, the genicular nerve (knee joint pain), the large occipital nerve pain (headache), neuromas, pelvic pain, SI joint pain and in a number of other indications.
The seminar was led by MUDr. Róbert Rapčan and was for physicians with specialization in pain management, radiology, neurology and anaesthesiology from L. Pasteur University Hospital Košice and the Košice-Šaca Hospital.
During the theoretical part of the seminar, MUDr. Rapčan gave a lecture that presented the current trends of interventional procedures in pain management and then the many options for using cryoablation.
Specialists MUDr. Róbert Rapčan and MUDr. Ľubomír Poliak carried out a direct application of the procedure under X-ray and ultrasound navigation in four different case studies for four patients.
The training aroused a great deal of positive interest in the specialists present, who expressed interest in further in-depth training with the aim using this type of procedure in their departments in the future.
